Information about Sinfonia from Cantata 156 by J S Bach (Flute Quartet)
BWV 156 is a church cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach written in 1729 for the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany. The Sinfonia is from the opening of the cantata and was originally scored for oboe, strings and continuo. It was later adapted as part of Bachs F minor harpsichord concerto.
This 345 arrangement for Flute Quartet will work equally well for Flute Choir. (please contact us if you would like a complimentary alto flute part to replace the 4th Flute)
The 1st flute part enables a more proficient player to enjoy the melody, whilst the lower accompanying parts make it possible for players of grade 1 level and above to be part of the ensemble.
