Information about Bach C P : Trio Sonata in D Major WQ151 (Flute, Violin, Cello)
The Trio Sonata in D major for flute, violin and figures bass (WQ151) by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), published here for the first time, was given, after preliminary studies in Frankfort (Oder), its final version 1747 in Potsdam. Here, for 27 years, the second-oldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach was in the service of Frederick II as harpsichordist.
As a source of the urtext edition, the autograph in the posession of the former Prussian State Library Berlin was used. For the realisation of the figured bass two authoritative contemporary methods were taken into consideration: Carl Philip Emanuel Bach Versuch uber die wahre Art, das Klavier zu spielen (Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard), Berlin 1759/62, and the Versuch einer Anweisung, die Flote traversiere zu spielen (Essay on Directions to play the Flute traversiere), Berlin 1952, by the flutist and composer Johann Joachim Quantz who also served at the Prussian court. Stylistically correct solutions were found, especially in the accompaniment of suspensions in the solo parts.
Flute, Violin and Continuo.
